Biblical Eldership Class

Christ Church offers a free seminar on Biblical Eldership. The seminar will consist of two, two-hour sessions annually. The seminar is open to all those interested in:

  • Learning more about the purpose and function of the local church.
  • Discussing and studying the Scriptural passages related to church leadership and structure.
  • Understanding the difference among various forms of church government (i.e. elder-governed verses congregational/democratic).
  • Identifying the distinctions among the biblical terms elder, bishop, overseer, pastor, and teacher.
  • Exploring the qualifications for being a pastor/elder set forth in Scripture.

Session I:
What is the purpose and function of the local church?
What do the terms elder, bishop, overseer, pastor, and teacher mean in the New Testament?

Session II:
